Before they fade back in...

Life could have been harder,
We could have been farther,
If only you could hear my heart,
If only you could be
Less than ten steps apart,
Life would have been perfect.

These lines should have been darker,
We should have been farther,
If only I could hear your heart,
And draw those lines darker,
Darker from the start,
We could have been perfect, in every way.

But those ten steps have gone,
And it’s time we take a spin,
And those lines are fading out,
Can we do the dance again?
Before they fade back in.

I have heard your heart, you’ve mine
They won’t add up, and that is fine,
If only, we could push them away,
And make them disappear while I,
Search for reasons to stay.
It could be almost perfect, in every way.

But those ten steps have gone,
And it’s time we take a spin,
And those lines are fading out,
Can we do the dance again?
Before they fade back in.
And as we run back from this world,
In your arms we shall return,
With our hopes to be reclaimed,
For some plain old hurt and pain,
To the world we have known, once again...
